Mode of Action:

Zolmitriptan being 5-HT1B,1D agonist cause

1.Constriction of the dilated intracranialblood vessels. 2. Reduction in neurogenic inflammat ion around the blood vessels by inhibiting the release of neuropeptides such as CGRP and substance P.3. Deactivation of the central trigeminal system, thereby,reducing the pain processing as well as nausea and vomiting associated with migrain and thereby not requiring additional antinausea medicines in the majority of patients.
